VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's soccer team saw its ODAC Tournament run come to an end Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 loss to Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.

Sixth-seeded Shenandoah (11-8) scored the first goal of the game, but saw VWU (12-3-3) score a pair of second half goals to advance.

Alison Spaziani gave the visitors the early lead with her unassisted tally 13:11 into the contest. Spaziani gathered a loose ball just outside the box and beat Marlins keeper Amruta Karkare to the far post.

VWU brought the game back to level 4:29 into the second half on a through pass to Mia Meinhardt.

Shenandoah, which had four of its seven shots in the second half, had its best second half scoring opportunity in the 52
nd minute when Karkare stopped

"It was a tough loss this afternoon," head coach Liz Pike said. "We fought hard but ran out of gas at the end. It is never easy conceding in last minute of a game and hopefully can learn from this. Overall, we had a good season."
