HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team could not sustain its strong start in a 96-48 exhibition loss to Division I James Madison University Wednesday afternoon at the Convocation Center.

Shenandoah (0-2) jumped out to a 17-12 lead over the Dukes (2-1) in the first 7:58 of the contest only to see JMU answer.
IN BRIEF
Trailing by five following an
Avery White 3-pointer, James Madison scored 10 straight points and 27 of the final 33 of the first half to take 39-23 lead into the break.

The Dukes kept up the pressure to start the second, opening the stanza with a 23-4 run to push their lead out to 35-points, 62-27, by the 12:29 mark.

Christopher Chaney, who scored the final point of the first half on a free throw before opening the second half scoring with a layup, snapped the Dukes spurt with a layup at 12:02.

Unfortunately, JMU answered with another run, this one 15-4 over 3:37, to increase the lead out to 44.

The hosts lead grew to 49 points before
Chris Oates scored five of the game's final nine points on a 3-pointer and a layup in the final 90 seconds of the contest.
