WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team earned its first win of the season with a 66-50 non-league victory over Juniata College Tuesday evening.

Shenandoah (1-2) pulled away with a 20-5 run midway through the second half to dispatch the Eagles (1-3).Â

Christopher Chaney kick started the Hornets game-closing run with a pair of free throws at 9:49.

Chaney was unstoppable on the start of this run, scoring 10 of the Hornets 12 points in a span of 2:57 to turn the tie game into a 49-41 Shenandoah lead with 6:52 remaining.

Juniata hit a jumper at 6:25 to cut its deficit to six, 49-43, only to see
Alan Dabney answer with a 3-pointer 27 seconds later to start a 17-7 Shenandoah run to close out the contest.

A pair of Chaney free throws at 4:52 to push the lead into double digits. The lead reached 18 points before JC scored the final bucket of the game.
