ARLINGTON, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team earned its first win of the 2019 season with a 14-9 non-league victory Saturday afternoon at Marymount University.
SU (1-1) jumped out to a quick lead after Ryan Schott tallied up a pair of unassisted goals. The Hornets would score the game's first five goals before MU (0-2) stopped the run with six minutes left in the first quarter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After Schott's two quick goals, Kyle Morien, Michael Brooks and Zack Zimmerman tallied the next three goals to give Shenandoah the commanding lead.
The Hornets would never trail in the contest.
Goals by freshmen Jet Hayes and Zachary Heiderman and a man-up Schott tally gave SU an 8-4 lead at halftime.
A 3-0 Saints run between 8:05 in the second and 13:14 in the third would cut the Hornets lead down to two. SU answered with a three-goal streak to end the third and effectively seal the win.
