NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Shenandoah University women's lacrosse fell to Christopher Newport 17-9 in a non-league contest on Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (2-2) trailed for all but the initial 13 seconds of the contest when Cat Leighty found the back of the net for the Captains (2-3).
IN BRIEF
CNU would go on to score the first the goals of the contest before Alyson Bittinger took advantage of a free position attempt and buried the ball past Kaitlyn Ready.
Nikki Zerna and Jordyn Miller would go on to score before halftime. The Captains commanded a 14-4 lead at the break.
SU outscored CNU 5-3 in the second half after Bittinger, Zerna and Miller would go tallied again with Emma Stiffler and Cassie Arndt adding one each.
Sarah Culver recorded seven goals for the hosts.
