HARRISONBURG, Va. – Eastern Mennonite University completed its first-ever season sweep over the Shenandoah University baseball team with an 8-5 home win Wednesday afternoon.

Shenandoah (19-10, 9-8 ODAC) had taken an early 4-0 lead thanks in large part to a Keegan Woolford three-run home run in the first, but the Royals (14-18-1, 8-9) answered.

IN BRIEF

EMU got itself back in back in it with three runs in the second and with the game tied at 5-5, scored two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to finish off the Hornets.

After having lost 16 straight to Shenandoah from April 11, 2011 until thru this season, Eastern Mennonite has now taken two straight from the Hornets.

EMU snapped that 16-game losing streak with an 8-4 win in Winchester on March 29.

Woolford's home run is his seventh of the season and the fifth in the past six games. He also has a league-leading 38 RBI.

Cade Templeton (0-1) took the loss after giving up one run on one hit in 1/3 of an inning. Shenandoah used five pitchers on the afternoon.

Ryan Brewer got the victory in relief for the Royals. He held the Hornets off the board over the final four innings and allowed just two hits.

Frankie Ritter, Tristan Baker, Pearce Bucher and Grant Thompson all had two hits in the loss.
