WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-10 ODAC contest to Roanoke College Friday afternoon.
Roanoke (11-5, 6-2 ODAC) used a five-goal run sandwiching halftime to steal the win from Shenandoah (11-4, 6-1).
IN BRIEF
The two teams played great defense in the first six minutes of the contest before the Hornets were able to put the first goal on the board at the 24:19 mark. Nikki Zerna found Alyson Bittinger in the middle of the 8-meter for the first of her four goals on the day.
RC would go on to score the next three of four goals.
Goals from Macy Tignor, Jordyn Miller, Zerna and Emma Stiffler put the Hornets up 5-3 ten minutes prior to halftime.
With eight minutes remaining in the first, two man-up situations allowed the Maroons to take the lead from SU with a 6-5 lead going into the break.
RC scored six of the first seven goals in the second half and were able to double up on Shenandoah 12-6.
The Hornets rallied at the end scoring four goals to end the contest but ran out of time and possessions to complete a comeback.
