Hollins Slips Past Women's Tennis

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Hollins University rallied for a 5-4 ODAC women's tennis victory over Shenandoah Sunday afternoon.

Shenandoah (3-5, 1-4 ODAC) opened with wins in the top two doubles matches before seeing Hollins (3-9, 2-4) steal a point by taking an 8-7 (7-3) win at No. 3 doubles.

IN BRIEF

SU had a 7-4 lead in that No. 3 doubles match before Hollins stormed back. This victory would prove to be pivotal for the visitors.

Megan Hillyard gave the Hornets a third point with a win at love at No. 4 singles only to see Hollins clinch the victory with wins at Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles.

HU clinched with the win at No. 6.

With the match result determined, Madison Hansen was an 0-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-4) winner at No. 1.

The women continue ODAC play with a 4 p.m. home match Tuesday versus Sweet Briar.
