WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Mary Baldwin made the most of its first-ever varsity men's soccer match, downing host Shenandoah 3-1 in the season opener for both schools.
Mary Baldwin (1-0) withstood an 11-shot barrage from Shenandoah (0-1) in the first half and owned a 1-0 lead thanks to a Marcos Sasia goal in the 21
st minute.
William Majano brought the Hornets back to level with a goal off of an
Andrew Sweeney feed, but the game was destined not to be tied for long.Â

Majano's goal came off of an indirect kick as MBU was called for a foul inside the 18-yard box. The officials awarded an indirect kick from 10-yards out and Sweeney tapped Majano, who ripped the ball just under the crossbar for the equalizer.
