WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team opened up its 2019 season Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 non-league loss to Notre Dame (Md.).
Shenandoah (0-1) rallied from a 25-14 loss in the opening set to square the match at 1-1 with a 25-21 victory in the second. The Gators (1-0) then clinched the victory with wins at 20 and 17 in sets three and four, respectively.

Playing their first-ever match under new coach
Kent Clayberg, the Hornets had 34 kills in the match against 26 errors in 124 attempts.
Defensively, SU had 55 digs in the four sets with
Sabrina Semo and
Ashley Thompson chipping in 12 each.
NDM hit .137 (45-27-131) to the Hornets .065.
Megan Hillyard had 17 assists and
Hannah Lien 16 to help fuel the offense.
