LEXINGTON, Va. – Host Washington & Lee University earned its 10
th volleyball win of the season Wednesday evening with a 3-0 ODAC victory over Shenandoah.
The Generals (10-2, 2-0 ODAC) won at 21, 15 and 13 over the Hornets (3-8, 0-2).
IN BRIEF
Shenandoah played perennial ODAC power W&L even at the start of all three sets only to see its hosts take control with scoring runs in the middle of each set.
In the first, the Generals reeled off a 12-6 run in the middle of the set to take a 21-15 advantage.
Three consecutive bad sets brought the Hornets to within three, 21-18, before W&L closed it out by scoring four of the final seven points of the set.
The second was more of the same, with the two teams splitting the initial 16 points, before the Generals against seized control with a run. This time it was 13-4 and put the hosts four points from the set victory.
In the third, the score was 7-7 when W&L made its run. A 12-2 run this time put Washington & Lee up 17-9 and set the stage for the clinching point.
Sabrina Semo led the visitors with six kills while
Megan Hillyard had 13 assists and Kate Popp 16 digs.
Shenandoah hit .036 (22-18-110) to .333 for the Generals (48-11-111).
