WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker Friday night, falling 3-2 in non-league action to Mount Aloysius.
Â
Mount Aloysius (8-3) took the 20-25, 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 15-9 decision over the Hornets (3-9) in a match that saw 27 ties and 12 lead changes.
Â
IN BRIEF
Unfortunately for the SU faithful, the final lead change proved to be the death knell as the Mounties rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the fifth to rally for the six-point win.
Â
Shenandoah held its final lead at 8-7 following a
Sabrina Semo kill off of a
Megan Hillyard set.
Â
The two teams traded sides of the court, but the momentum didn't make that same journey as Mount Aloysius scored eight of the nine points following the switch.
Â
The Hornets committed three attack errors and saw the Mounties post two service aces in that span – the only SU point during the time came via a Mount service error.
Â
The Mounties finished off the match on the second of the two service aces.
