Marlins Sweep Volleyball

Hornets Fall, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19

WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Virginia Wesleyan kept its perfect ODAC record intact Saturday morning with a 3-0 sweep over Shenandoah.
 
Playing for the second time in three weeks, the Marlins (11-3, 3-0 ODAC) won at 19, 14 and 19 over the Hornets (3-10, 0-3).
 

IN BRIEF

The first set was the closest of the three with four ties and two lead changes – sets two and three had a combined four ties and one lead change.
 
The Marlins hit .242 for the match (38-14-99) to .009 (28-27-106) for SU. After hitting .233 in the opening set, the Hornets had negative percentages in sets two and three.
 
Freshman Kieran Turner paced the hosts offensively with 11 of the squad's 28 kills. Emily Cheatwood backed her up with eight.
 
Megan Hillyard had 23 assists and both Kate Poppo and Niki Balestri posted 10 digs each.
