SALEM, Va. – Host Roanoke College held off a furious Shenandoah University comeback in a 77-69 ODAC men's basketball victory Saturday afternoon at the Cregger Center.

Trailing by 14-points, 67-53, with 4:43 remaining, Shenandoah (5-9, 2-3 ODAC) reeled off a 14-5 run over the next 2:46 to climb back into the contest.

The Maroons hit 5-of-6 from the charity stripe and turned in a pair of defensive stops in the final 39 seconds to secure their 24
th victory over SU in 27 lifetime meetings.

The two teams traded the lead seven times and were tied on six occasions in the opening 14 minutes of the contest.

With Shenandoah holding a 28-27 lead following a
Zach Garrett 3-pointer, Roanoke took the lead for good with a 14-6 run to complete the first half.

The Maroons scored 10 of the initial 12 points in the second, expanding their lead out to 15, 51-36, with 14:43 remaining.

That lead remained at 14 points until the 3:32 mark when
Chris Oates began the Hornets comeback with a 3-pointer.

SU would cut the deficit to five points on two occasions before Roanoke clinched the win with that 5-for-6 showing at the line.
