WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team completed a season sweep over Ferrum College with a 64-45 ODAC victory Saturday afternoon at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.

Shenandoah (12-7, 8-4 ODAC) took control with a major run midway through the second quarter. After the Panthers (3-16, 3-9) scored the initial six points of the stanza, the Hornets ripped off 19 of the game's next 22 points to pull away.

Leading 41-24 at the break, SU was never threatened over the final 20 minutes.

Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft's club led 54-34 after three and coasted home to the 19-point win.

Ferrum did not get closer than 16 points following halftime.

Shenandoah shot 43 percent for the game and owned a 34-10 advantage in points in the paint. The Hornets bench also outscored the Panthers bench 22-9.

"I thought we passed the ball very well today," head coach
Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft said. "We wanted to get back to having an assist-based offense and we did that. We also got back to our roots defensively."
