Men's Lax Extinguishes Blazers

Chris Baker Leads with Five Goals

FREDERICK, Md. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team defeated Hood College 16-8 in a non-league contest Wednesday night. 

The Hornets (2-1) dominated the Blazers (0-1) from start to finish and spoiled the hosts' season-opener, scoring just 11 seconds into the contest and again with 14:26 on the clock. 

IN BRIEF

Sophomore Zachary Heiderman scored a quick one for the visitors from Christian Clement's opening face-off win. SU went on to score the next three goals before HC was able to get on the board. 

Cody Upman tallied a goal at the end of the first and again to start the second quarter to cut Shenandoah's lead down to 4-2. 

The Hornets put a stop on the building momentum with seven consecutive goals to finish out the half with an 11-2 lead. 

The SU offense cooled off in the second half, scoring two goals in the third quarter and three in the final stanza. 

Jason Simpson recorded 19 saves in the contest, leading the defense and keeping Hood to just six goals on 27 shots in the second half of play.
