WINCHESTER, Va. – A nine-run fourth keyed a 10-7 non-league Shenandoah University baseball victory over Lebanon Valley Friday afternoon at chilly Bridgeforth Field.

After falling behind 4-0 as LVC (0-1) scored two runs in the first and two in the fourth off of SU starter
Calvin Pastel, the Hornets (3-0) erupted for nine runs on nine hits and one Flying Dutchmen error.

Henry Delavergne, who led off the frame with a double down the left field line, had a two-run double to drive in the Hornets seventh and eighth runs.

Grant Thompson, who along with Delavergne had two hits in the inning, closed out the scoring with a double down the right field line.

Thompson plated Delavergne with a single to left in his first at-bat to start the nine-run rally.

Cade Templeton (1-0), who took over at the start of the fifth for the hosts, earned the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief.

Templeton struck out three and allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits.

Matt Barnes came on in the eighth after Templeton faltered and got the final five outs to earn the save. He also struck out three.

Brendan Ward (0-1) took the loss for LVC. He allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Thompson and
Keegan Woolford each had three hits with Delavergne,
Anthony Ward and
Tyler Kroll getting two hits each.
