WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 34 Shenandoah University ran its baseball winning streak to five games by sweeping a non-league doubleheader from Widener University Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (5-0) was a 5-3 winner in the opener before taking out the Pride, 10-1, in the nightcap.
GAME ONE RECAP
Widener jumped on the Hornets for three runs on five hits in the first, but the lead was short-lived.

Frankie Ritter led off the bottom of the frame with a single to center and
Henry Delavergne followed by being hit by a pitch.

Senior
Keegan Woolford stepped to the plate and quickly tied the game with a three-run blast to right center.
Â
Woolford's home run, his third of the season, puts him three home runs away from the top of the career charts at SU.

Catcher Jake Peters put the Hornets on top to stay one inning later by bringing home
Pearce Bucher on a groundout to short.
Â
Bucher put himself in scoring position with a one-out double down the right field line and then was sacrificed to third.

In the fourth, Peters drove home another run with a single through the left side. He plated
Gavin Horning, who had led off the inning by being hit by a pitch.

Sophomore
Tad Dean (2-0) threw the final four innings to pick up his second victory of the spring. He allowed just one hit (a fourth inning single) and struck out three.

Kade Jones (0-1) took the loss for the Pride. He went the distance and gave up the five runs on eight hits while striking out six.
GAME TWO RECAP
A pair of four-spots, in the third and sixth, along with two runs in the fourth, keyed the 10-1 game two victory for SU.

Sophomore
Michael Prosperi (1-0) tossed the initial five innings and scattered three hits and two walks against three strikeouts to pick up the win.

Seth Comer and
Joel Smith pitched the sixth and seventh, respectively, in support of Prosperi.
Â
Anthony Ward drove in three runs and Woolford two to lead the offense.
Tyler Kroll was 2-for-4.

The top five hitters in the Hornets lineup were a combined 5-for-11 with seven runs scored and five RBI.

Dylan Peiffer (0-1) took the loss for Widener. He gave up six runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks in 4.0 innings.
