WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Bridget Lyons and Head Athletic Trainer Mike Kotelnicki announced Friday that Rob Brennan has joined the department as an assistant athletic trainer.

Brennan, who earned his Master's in Athletic Training from Shenandoah in 2018, returns to campus to complete the AT staff after working for two private orthopedics companies from July 2018 through February 2020.

In 2018, Brennan worked at Select Medical and was assigned to Bloomingdale (Fla.) High School, where he assisted with their national caliber football program. In 2019, Brennan, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, moved back home to work for both Rothman Orthopedics and NovaCare.

He worked with both Temple and La Salle universities and Haverford in that latter position, assisting with sports as diverse as football, ultimate frisbee and rugby.

In addition to those three institutions, Brennan was assigned to Radnor (Pa.) High School where he assisted the head AT with all of the high school and middle school athletics programs.

While pursuing his graduate degree at SU, Brennan was selected as the recipient of the James R. and Mary B. Wilkins Athletic Training Program Award. He also assisted at Sherando (Va.) High School.

Brennan, who earned his undergrad degree from Temple in 2014, will serve as the primary AT for the men's wrestling program while assisting with sports in both the fall and spring seasons.

He joins an athletic training office that includes Kotelnicki, associate athletic trainer Josh Rader and assistant athletic trainers Kelli Plemmons and April Reed. He starts his full-time duties immediately.
