WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Bridget Lyons announced Wednesday the composition of the athletic training staff for the 2022-23 school year.
Lyons, preparing for her fifth full year as the department's athletics director, has brought on Jimmy Rodriguez as head athletic trainer and Brannon Zochert as an assistant athletic trainer.
Those two join a pair of SU grads, Noah Climer '22 M. AT and Katy Griffith '13, '16 M. AT, who were announced Aug. 8 as assistant athletic trainers .
Rodriguez, a US Navy veteran, comes to Shenandoah after working at Sentara Healthcare for the spring of 2021. At Sentara, he was assigned as an athletic trainer to Virginia Wesleyan University and worked with a variety of the Marlins' teams during his tenure.
Prior to that experience, Rodriguez worked with the track & field and softball teams at Idaho State University during his graduate studies while also assisting with the MLS champion Seattle Sounders Football Club.
Zochert is a 2017 graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Lacrosse and earned his Master's Degree from UW-Milwaukee in 2020.
Prior to coming to SU, Zochert was an assistant athletic trainer at DII Upper Iowa University working with the Peacocks' men's wrestling and women's lacrosse teams.
He also has experience at a private clinic and working with the University of Arizona as part of his graduate school clinical rotations.
"I want to welcome all four of these medical professionals to the department," Lyons stated. "All of them impressed our coaches, staff members, and the search committee during the interview process. I know they are all committed to providing excellent care to our student-athletes."
