Women's Hoops Tops Hollins

Clinches Fifth Seed with 63-48 Win

ROANOKE, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team wrapped up its regular season Saturday with a 63-48 ODAC win at Hollins University.
 
The Hornets (16-9, 12-6 ODAC) locked up with the No. 5 seed at the upcoming ODAC Tournament with the win over Hollins (11-14, 5-13).

IN BRIEF

Coach Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft's club had clinched an opening-round bye prior to the game, but earned the No. 5 seed by virtual wire-to-wire win over HU.
 
Shenandoah led for 38:06 of the 40-minute contest.
 
As the No. 5 seed, the defending champion Hornets will face fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the tournament quarterfinals. The quarterfinals, along with Saturday's semis and the Sunday championship, will be held at the Salem Civic Center in Salem.
 
Sophomore Sierra St. Cyr paced the visitors with 15 points with senior Jordan Sondrol adding 13 and St. Cyr's classmate, Ragan Johnson, 12 points.
 
St. Cyr, McKenzie Mathis and Sarah Donley all had six rebounds for the victors. The Hornets had a 45-28 advantage on the glass and held Hollins to just 31 percent (18-of-59) shooting from the floor.
