Women's Lacrosse Conquers Warriors

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team defeated Lycoming 24-5 in a non-conference contest on Saturday evening.

SU (2-0) defeated the Warriors (0-1) for the second straight year thanks to a 6-0 run to start the game.

IN BRIEF

Hornets controlled the game from the beginning when sophomore Emma Stiffler found classmate Kaitlyn Morris for the first goal.

Shenandoah would go on to score the next five, three assisted efforts and two free-position goals.

Hailey Kimble stopped the bleeding for the visitors at the 25:26 mark, her first of four in the match.

Shenandoah had another four-goal run after Kimble's initial tallie. The Warriors then exploited a hole in the hosts' defense going on a 4-2 run between 22:25 and 11:30 bringing the score to 13-5 in favor of SU.

Coach Lutz called a timeout and got her squad re-focused, only allowing one goal the rest of the evening.

QUOTABLE

"This is a nice team win to have early in the season. Everyone got involved and we were passing the ball well on offense, seeing a lot of cutters, and making things happen for our teammates. We have a good opportunity ahead of us this week with McDaniel and Stevens so we are moving on to prepare for the next game." -Head Coach Lindsey Lutz
