WINCHESTER, Va. - New Shenandoah University Head Women's Tennis Coach
Jason Cole earned a victory in the Hornets season opener Friday night with a 9-0 non-league victory over Mary Baldwin University.
The Hornets (1-0) earned three doubles wins and then victories at Nos. 4 and 6 singles to clinch the team victory over Mary Baldwin (0-1).

Sydney Palmer and
Caitlin Bennett got the night started with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles before
Jada Lewis and
Madison Rogers turned the same trick at No. 2.
Jahveesha Combs and
Lily Kimble then put the Hornets two wins from a clinch by winning 8-1 at No. 1.
The first two singles matches on the court, No. 4 and No. 6, got those two wins for SU.
Madison Hoilman was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 6, setting Rogers up for the match-clinching victory at No. 4. Rogers was a 6-1, 6-3 victor to put the final touches on the victory.
Kimble, Lewis and Bennett all won in straight sets at Nos. 2, 3 and 6, respectively. Combs, playing at No. 1, won at love in an eight-game pro set to complete the shutout victory.
Shenandoah is right back on the court tomorrow evening in a home non-league match versus Juniata.
