WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team kept its ODAC regular season title hopes alive with a 63-56 victory over Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (14-7, 10-4 ODAC) defeated the Wasps (17-4, 11-3) for just the second time in program history and snapped a 12-game losing streak in the series with the home win.

E&H jumped to an early double-digit lead, taking a 13-point advantage by the time the game was eight minutes old, but the Hornets battled back.

A 15-3 SU run over a span of 7:12 brought the hosts back into it.

Olivia Weinel eventually tied it for the Hornets with a pair of free throws 72 seconds before halftime and from this point on, the two teams were separated by no more than four points until Emory & Henry began to foul in the final minute of the game.

Shenandoah, which shoots 74 percent from the line as a team, made 8-of-10 from the line in the final 32 seconds of the contest.

The Hornets shot 90 percent (27-of-30) from the line for the game.

Jordan Sondrol, who led the victors with 14 points, was 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in the final eight seconds.

The two teams were tied eight times and traded the lead on 11 occasions over the final 20 minutes of play.
