WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team continued its winning ways Saturday with a 14-12 non-league victory over St. Mary's of Maryland.

Shenandoah (5-0) rallied 9-5 deficit to down the Seahawks (4-2) in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
IN BRIEF
Trailing 9-5 after SMCM scored the final three goals of the first half, the Hornets got themselves back in it by 5-1 run to start the second.

Junior
Alyson Bittinger, who had a game-high six goals had four of the goals during this spurt.

With the score now tied at 10-10, Bittinger tallied her fourth consecutive goal to put SU up 11-10 with 13:06 remaining.

The 'Hawks answered with two straight to retake the lead, 12-11, with 5:28 left.

But Shenandoah wasn't finish.

Alexandra Simonson at 4:22 to again tie the score, this time at 12-12.

With the momentum clearly on its side, SU got a pair of
Cassie Arndt goals in the final 2:37 to secure the victory.

The first, the eventual game-winner, came via free position. Bittinger, who also had a co-game-high six draw controls, set up Arndt's final goal at 1:57 to provide an insurance tally.

Freshman goalkeeper
Ashley MacFarlane, who came on 25:19 into the game, made a pair of saves in the final 79 seconds to snuff out the Seahawks comeback bid.
