BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Host Bridgewater College led wire-to-wire Saturday afternoon in an 81-65 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles (1-1, 1-0 ODAC) scored the game's initial seven points and led 16-2 over SU (0-1, 0-1) by the time the game was five minutes old.

Karree Smith layup with 5:51 remaining in the opening stanza.

Unfortunately for the Shenandoah faithful, Bridgewater closed out the first on a 17-10 run to take an 11-point, 42-31, lead at the break.

Zach Garrett, who led the Hornets with 16 points, had a three-point play to start the second and bring SU to within eight, but this would prove to be the final time that the BC lead fell into single digits.

The Eagles, shooting 55 percent (11 of 20) in the second half, outscored Shenandoah by five points over the final 20 minutes to provide the final margin of victory.

Matthew Anderson and Smith had 13 and 10 points, respectively, to back up Garrett.
