Hockey Dominates Eastern Mennonite

Score Four Goals in First Five Minutes of 11-0 Win

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Four goals in the opening five minutes of the game provided all of the offense the Shenandoah University field hockey team would need in an 11-0 ODAC win at Eastern Mennonite Wednesday evening.

Shenandoah (9-1, 2-0 ODAC) extended its program-record winning streak to nine matches by jumping all over the Royals (7-4, 0-1).

IN BRIEF
Reigning ODAC Player of the Year Kelsey Jones scored just 25 seconds into the game to give the Hornets a lead they would not relinquish.

Lindsey Florio made it 2-0 at 2:41 before Mairead Mckibbin scored unassisted at both 4:00 and 4:55 to give SU the commanding lead.

Jones tallied for a second time midway through the second while Florio opened the second half scoring with an unassisted goal 58 seconds into the third.

Hannah Mink, Mckibbin, and Jones closed out the third quarter scoring.

In the fourth, Farren Winter and Fallon Spittel had goals to provide the final margin.

Mckibbin (2), Winter, and Elizabeth Ranberger had assists on the night.

All three goalkeepers played in the game starter Katie Garman registering one save in 15 minutes of action.

SU outshot its hosts, 32-5, and had a 5-2 advantage on penalty corners.

The 11 goals scored is the most since the Hornets tallied the same amount versus Ferrum on Oct. 5, 2019. This is the second-best single-game performance in program history.

UP NEXT
Shenandoah returns home Saturday for a 1 p.m. ODAC contest versus Virginia Wesleyan. This is also Senior Day for the program.
