WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's soccer team earned its first on-field ODAC victory of the season Wednesday night with a 3-0 win over Randolph-Macon.
Â
Shenandoah (6-5-1, 2-0-1 ODAC), who was awarded an administrative forfeit victory over Hollins last week, scored two first half goals exactly two minutes apart to pull away from R-MC (5-5, 2-1).
Â
IN BRIEF
Elizabeth McGee and
Saige Musser scored at 17:39 and 19:39 to give the Hornets the cushion they would need versus the 'Jackets.
Â
Four minutes into the second half, McGee gave SU some more breathing room as she took a pass from
Chandler Gallant and ripped it past R-MC backup keeper Zoe Long.
Â
McGee's initial goal was off of a double assist as
Abbie Marquette took a corner on the near side of the field and served the ball into Musser in the middle of the box. Musser headed the ball down where Musser corralled it, turned, and tapped it into the open net.
Â
Two minutes later, McGee crossed the ball the width of the field to the on-rushing Musser, who one-timed it just inside the left post.
Â
Goalkeeper
Karissa Dominick ran her scoreless streak to 254:20 with a nine-save performance.
Â
Macon outshot SU, 18-12, with the Hornets holding a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Â
UP NEXT
Shenandoah has a busy Saturday in Central Virginia as the Hornets take on Sweet Briar at 11 a.m. before meeting Randolph at 5 p.m. in a pair of ODAC contests.
