Catholic Tops Men's Hoops

Hornets Fall, 75-62

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Host Catholic University kept its men's basketball record perfect on the season with a 75-62 non-league victory Wednesday night over Shenandoah University.

The Cardinals (5-0) led wire-to-wire as they scored the initial 10 points of the game on their way to the 13-point victory.

IN BRIEF
Jaylen Williams snapped that game-opening streak for the Hornets (0-3) with a jumper at 15:40. Unfortunately, CUA answered with seven of the game's next nine points to expand its lead out to 13-points by the 12:59 mark.

The lead reached a half-high 15 points midway through the stanza before Shenandoah reeled off a 17-5 run to cut the deficit to just three, 30-27, with 2:55 remaining. Trevor Kelly capped that run with a 3-pointer off of a Davion Roberts defensive rebound and assist.

Catholic then closed the half with an 8-2 run to lead 38-29 at the break.

The hosts scored the initial bucket of the second half and maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.

Noah Adams paced SU with 18 points; he was the only Shenandoah player scoring in double digits. He and Binwi Bihai both had eight rebounds.

The Hornets shot 31.7 percent (19 of 60) from the field to 38 percent (27 of 71) for Catholic. SU also had a 47-46 advantage on the glass.
