Saints Rally Past Men's Basketball

Williams Has 24 Points in 85-66 Loss at Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – Host Marymount University used a strong second half to earn an 85-66 non-league men's basketball victory over Shenandoah University Wednesday evening.

Shenandoah (2-6) led by two points, 39-37, at the break but saw Marymount (5-4) score 48 second half points on its way to the victory.

IN BRIEF
The Saints shot a red-hot 68 percent (19-of-28) over the final 20 minutes to earn their seventh victory in 23 lifetime meetings with SU. Marymount shot 57 percent (33-of-58) for the game.

MU scored the initial nine points of the second to take a lead it would not relinquish. SU would cut the deficit to just two points, 48-46, following a Jaylen Williams layup at 13:45, but could not come all the way back.

Marymount answered that Williams layup with a 3-pointer on the ensuing trip down the floor; this bucket also kickstarted a 13-5 run over a span of 2:23 that gave the hosts a double-digit lead for the first time.

MU continued to build upon its advantage and topped out with a 22-point lead at the 1:05 mark.

Williams, who was named as the ODAC Player of the Week on Monday, led all players with 24 points. He also had six steals.

Noah Adams added 11 points off the bench.

SU shot 37 percent (25-of-67) and had 31 of the game's 68 rebounds.
