WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Ferrum College eliminated a one-point halftime deficit in a 78-70 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.

Ferrum (5-3, 4-2 ODAC) drained 15 3-pointers on its way to the eight-point victory over Shenandoah (0-5, 0-5).

The two teams traded '3' for the opening eight buckets of the contest; a Darius Kemp three-point play for FC at 14:29 represented the first made basket inside of the three-point arc.

SU and the Panthers traded the lead seven times and were tied on five occasions in the first half with Shenandoah taking a 35-34 advantage into the break on the strength of a
Karree Smith jumper at 2:37.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, Ferrum sandwiched a 9-2 run around the halftime break to take a 40-37 lead and only trailed for 19 seconds the rest of the way.

Kalip Jones gave the visitors the lead for good on a '3' at 13:04 and FC eventually expanded its lead out to 10 points by the 9:13 mark.

Shenandoah was able to cut the deficit to two points on two occasions, the last with 5:51 left, but Ferrum again had an answer.

The Panthers responded to the
Avery White free throw that made it 65-63 with a 6-0 run that effectively sealed the win.

FC made 10 of its final 12 free throws as Shenandoah was forced to foul in the final minute.

Zach Garrett led the hosts with 20 points with
Andres Frye adding 18 and
Jaylen Williams 14.

Kajuan Madden-McAfee had 20 points for Ferrum.

SU shot 44 percent (26 of 59) and held a 43-36 advantage on the glass.
