WINCHESTER, Va. – Host Eastern Mennonite University used a huge second half to fuel a 79-67 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah University Wednesday evening at Yoder Arena.

The Royals (2-1, 2-1 ODAC) scored 54 points in the second half to erase a 12-point halftime deficit and down Shenandoah (0-7, 0-7) for the sixth straight time.

Trailing 17-14 midway through the first, SU ripped off a 23-8 run to complete the stanza and take a 37-25 lead into the break.

The Hornets hit 15 field goals in the opening 20 minutes, including one '3', and were 6 of 8 from the charity stripe in building that 12-point bulge.

Eastern Mennonite gradually chipped away at that lead and was able to tie the contest at 50-50 with 9:23 left only to see
Karree Smith give SU the lead back with a jumper on the Hornets ensuing trip down the floor.

Shenandoah eventually expanded this lead back to seven points, 60-53, on a
Matthew Anderson '3' with 5:25 to play only to see the Royals answer with what proved to be the game-winning run.

EMU outscored the Hornets 21-2 over the next 4:10, turning that seven-point deficit into a 12-point lead with 65 seconds remaining.
