Seven Women Score in 8-0 Win

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team earned its first ODAC win of the 2021 spring season with an 8-0 win over Ferrum Friday evening on the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium turf.

The Hornets (1-1, 1-1 ODAC) saw seven women score under the Friday night lights but would only need a Kelsey Jones converted stroke in the first to defeat the Panthers (0-2, 0-2). 

HOW IT HAPPENED

SU 14:41 | Kelsey Jones converted a penalty stroke to the upper-right corner. 
SU 27:21 | Elise Velasquez picked up a loose ball near the goal line and tapped it in. 
SU 35:18 | Kylee Tuebner found Hannah Mink for the third goal of the game.
SU 37:11 | Tuebner recorded another assist off classmate Elizabeth Ranberger's goal. 
SU 47:03 | Cassidy Morrison corralled a deflected shot and put one past Ferrum's goalie. 
SU 52:49 | Fallon Spittel sent a cross right to Abby Barefoot who buried her shot into the cage. 
SU 54:00 | Kelsey Jones sent a shot through traffic from the top of the scoring circle. 
SU 59:03 | Tuebner scored through traffic for her first collegiate goal. 

MATCH NOTES

  • 17 women saw the field today
  • Isabella Morande stopped the two shots she saw all game
  • The Hornets outshot the Panthers 39-2. Twenty-eight of SU's shots were on target
  • The hosts owned an 18-1 advantage in penalty corners
