WINCHESTER, Va. – Defending ODAC champion Virginia Wesleyan continued its winning ways Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over host Shenandoah University.

The Marlins (2-0, 1-0 ODAC) won at 18, 16, and 16 over Shenandoah (2-1, 1-1).
IN BRIEF
Virginia Wesleyan never trailed in the opening two sets as it hit a combined .324 (29-7-68) in taking the 2-0 advantage.

The third was much closer, with four ties and four lead changes, but a 12-1 run in the middle of the set spelled doom for the Hornets.

Kate Poppo, who was named ODAC Player of the Week earlier in the day, snapped the VWU run with a kill off of a
Caitlyn Houck assist to make it 19-9 and return the serve to the SU side.

Virginia Wesleyan then coasted home to the nine-point set victory with match point coming via service ace.

Jillian Warter paced the hosts with 11 kills while Poppo added sixth.

Megan Hillyard had 14 of the squad's 31 assists.

Defensively,
Gabby Coradazzi had nine digs and Poppo eight.
