EMORY, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's soccer team earned its first win of the spring 2021 season with a 3-0 ODAC victory at Emory & Henry Monday evening.
 
Playing it what is likely to be the Hornets (1-4-2, 1-3-2 ODAC) final trip to E&H, Shenandoah scored a pair of goals in the first half to pull away from the Wasps (0-6, 0-6).

IN BRIEF

Zach Salazar netted what proved to be the game-winner at 24:03 when he tapped home a spinning back heel off of a Christopher Wood cross.
 
At 37:02, Pedro Flor knocked home a rebound of Braden Gallant's shot.
 
Finally, a Salazar free kick set up Nikolas Como for a header at 64:42 to close out the night's scoring.
 
Shenandoah goalkeepers Sam Fischer and Dylan Johnson had to make just one total save (by Fischer) to maintain the clean sheet.
 
SU outshot the Wasps, 25-3, including 7-1 on goal, and had an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.

NOTABLE

Emory & Henry has announced its intention to reclassify its athletics program to NCAA Division II this summer. Should that request be granted, the Wasps will depart the ODAC and Division III.
