Macon Steals One from Men's Soccer

Hornets Fall, 4-3, in Overtime

WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Randolph-Macon scored a golden goal eight minutes into sudden victory overtime Thursday afternoon to earn a 4-3 ODAC men's soccer victory over Shenandoah.
 
Shenandoah (1-5-2, 1-4-2 ODAC) took a 3-2 lead on a Braden Gallant to Nikolas Como goal with 13:53 to play, but Macon (5-2, 5-2) had the answer.

IN BRIEF

The Yellow Jackets brought the game back to level with a goal at 82:49 before getting the game-winner with 1:55 remaining in the first 10-minute overtime session.
 
Olo Sembera tallied that goal off of a Kodi Tannor assist.
 
The golden goal capped a contest in which the two teams traded the lead three times and were tied at 1-1, 2-2, and 3-3.
 
SU scored the initial goal of the contest, by Gallant at 29:15, only to see R-MC take a 2-1 lead thanks to goals at 31:09 and 40:00.
 
Niclas Vavra netted the Hornets second goal, at 57:35, setting the stage for Como to push the hosts in front.
 
Pedro Flor and Zach Salazar set up Gallant's and Vavra's goals, respectively.
 
Macon outshot SU, 24-12, and took seven of the game's 10 corner kicks.
 
Hornets goalkeeper Sam Fischer had eight saves.
