Generals Take Field Hockey Battle

W&L Scores Final Three Goals in 5-2 Victory

LEXINGTON, Va. – Host Washington & Lee scored the final three goals of the game Tuesday evening to earn a 5-2 ODAC field hockey victory over Shenandoah.
 
The Hornets (5-2, 5-2 ODAC) knotted the game at 2-2 thanks to a pair of Farren Winter second quarter goals.

IN BRIEF

Kelsey Jones set up Winter's first goal, at 19:25, before Winter knocked home Elizabeth Ranberger at 26:40 to bring the contest back to level.
 
W&L (5-1, 5-1) had taken a 2-0 lead with goals at 8:26 and 10:49.
 
The two teams played a scoreless third quarter before the Generals tallied three times midway through the fourth.
 
The hosts scored at 51:53, 55:28, and 57:16 to provide the final margin of victory.
 
Grace Weise, who tallied the first goal of the game, had the first and third goals of this run.
 
W&L outshot SU, 25-14, while the Hornets had a 10-7 advantage in penalty corners.
 
SU goalkeeper Goalkeeper Isabella Morande made 10 saves.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah plays its final home game of the spring 2021 season on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. versus Roanoke. Morande, the squad's lone senior, will be honored prior to the contest.
