WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team completed its home ODAC slate Friday with a 2-1 loss to Roanoke.

Roanoke (5-2, 5-2 ODAC) clinched a home game in the upcoming ODAC Tournament with the win over Shenandoah (5-3, 5-3).

The Maroons scored the game-winner at 43:02 as Lauren Heffron knocked home a penalty corner insertion.

After Roanoke scored the initial goal of contest at 13:51,
Kelsey Jones knotted the game at 1-1 by beating Maroons goalkeeper Hannah Roerden on a penalty stroke at 24:04.

Roanoke outshot SU, 10-8, and was awarded eight of the 13 penalty corners.

The Hornets will clinch a home game as the No. 4 seed with a win Apr. 9 at Sweet Briar. SU holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the two teams, Bridgewater and Randolph-Macon, immediately behind Shenandoah in the league standings.
