WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Roanoke College scored the final three goals of the game Saturday to outlast host Shenandoah, 17-14, in ODAC women's lacrosse action.

Shenandoah (3-6, 2-2 ODAC) erased seven- and four-goal deficits, but could not complete the comeback against Roanoke (5-2, 2-1).

The Maroons scored eight of the game's first nine goals to lead 8-1 by the 13:42 mark of the first.

Shenandoah, thanks to three goals each from
Emma Stiffler and
Alyson Bittinger and two from
Reilly Cisar, rallied to tie the game at 10-10 by the 26:27 mark of the second.

Roanoke answered with a four-goal run of its own over the next 6:50 to reassert control at 14-10.

The Hornets refused to fold their tents and again rallied, getting two goals from Bittinger along with one from
Madison Holley and another from
Natalie Nichols, to tie the game at 14-14.

Unfortunately for the Shentel Stadium faithful, Emerson Foster scored for Roanoke at 4:21 to give the Maroons a lead they would not relinquish.

Lilly Blair and Maddie Stopkoski added insurance goals at 2:24 and 1:34, respectively.

The two teams split 60 shots with Shenandoah scooping up 19 of 34 groundballs and Roanoke winning 14 of 33 draws. The Maroons won three of the game's final four draws.

Carly Schoudel had 10 saves for RC and
Ashley MacFarlane seven for Shenandoah.
