LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team returned to action Saturday by splitting an ODAC tri-match at the University of Lynchburg.

Shenandoah (4-4, 3-4 ODAC) was a 3-1 victor over Emory & Henry in the middle match of the day before host Lynchburg swept SU in the final contest.
MATCH ONE – SU vs Emory & Henry
The Hornets got the day started with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 15-25, 25-14) victory over Emory & Henry in what will likely be the final volleyball matchup ever between SU and the Wasps (3-5, 3-5).

Shenandoah hit .211 (52-27—123) to .097 (30-20—103) for the Wasps. SU hit a match-best .583 in the fourth set with 15 kills against just one error in 24 attempts.

Kate Poppo paced the Hornets with 19 kills and 12 digs with
Jillian Warter adding 16 kills.

Caitlyn Houck also had a double-double with 22 assists and 10 digs.

Megan Hillyard added 21 assists.Â
MATCH TWO – SU vs Lynchburg
Lynchburg (8-4, 7-1) kept its regular season title hopes alive by sweeping SU at 9, 22, and 18 in the final match of the afternoon.

Poppo and Warter were again the story offensively with 10 kills each.

Hillyard, with 12, and Houck, with 10, had 22 of the squad's 25 assists.

Lynchburg hit .404 (53-11—104) to Shenandoah's .216 (25-9—74).
NOTABLE
Emory & Henry has announced its intention to reclassify its athletic program to NCAA Division II. Should that request be granted this summer, E&H will depart both the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and Division III.
