SALEM, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team earned itself a home match at next week's ODAC Tournament with a 5-4 victory Sunday at Roanoke.

The Hornets (4-7, 3-6 ODAC) will meet the Maroons (5-9, 3-7) again on Wednesday in the opening round of the tournament thanks to Sunday's win.

Trailing 2-1 after doubles, SU earned its first-ever victory over Roanoke with wins at Nos. 1, 3, 4, and 6 singles.

Caitlin Bennett, playing No. 6, had the match-clinching win by defeating Dana Meyer, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Bennett was put in position to clinch the victory after
Jahveesha Combs won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1,
Madison Hansen, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 and
Kelly Hudak, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-3 at No. 4.

Shenandoah's first win came at No. 3 doubles, where Hudak and Bennett were 8-2 victors.
NOTABLE
Shenandoah had not defeated Roanoke in nine previous meetings as ODAC members.
UP NEXT
SU, the No. 8 seed in the ODAC Tourney, hosts No. 9 Roanoke Wednesday afternoon in the first round. The victor moves on to Saturday's quarterfinal round at top-seeded Washington & Lee.
