WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team wrapped up its spring 2021 regular season Sunday with a 3-0 sweep over Ferrum College.

The Hornets (6-5, 5-5 ODAC) won at 12, 16, and 19 over the Panthers (0-8, 0-8).

On a day in which the squad recognized seniors

Megan Hillyard, and
Ashley Thompson prior to the match, SU dominated the opening two sets versus winless Ferrum.

Shenandoah led wire-to-wire in the opening set, as Hillyard opened the match by serving the initial nine points of the contest. SU also had sideout percentages of 75 and 76 percent, respectively, in the opening two sets.

Ferrum made the third set interesting as the two teams were tied on seven occasions and traded the lead five times. Trailing 14-11, the Hornets reeled off 11 of the game's next 14 points to reassert control at 22-17.

The Panthers scored two straight to make it 22-19 before Shenandoah won back the serve on a
Jillian Warter kill and then won it on consecutive kills from Warter and
Aaliyah Chunn.

Warter led all players with 15 kills with
Kate Poppo adding nine. Warter, with nine digs, just missed a double-double.

Hillyard had 16 assists and
Caitlyn Houck 10 to help run the offense.

UP NEXT
The ODAC Tournament pairings will be officially announced later Sunday evening, but the Hornets are locked into the No. 7 seed and will travel to second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday for a quarterfinal round match.
