SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Shenandoah University completed "SU" Volleyball Tournament play Saturday by splitting a pair of matches at Susquehanna University.
Shenandoah (3-5) was a 3-1 winner over Stockton (N.J.) University in the opening match of the afternoon before falling to Salisbury University, 3-0, in the final match of the day.
MATCH ONE
The Hornets earned their first victory of the tournament with a 26-24, 15-25, 25-23, 26-24 win over the Ospreys (1-5).
Coach
Kent Clayberg's club hit .119 for the match (41-25—135) and had a match-high 13 kills in the 26-24, set one win.
Jillian Warter paced the victors with 15 kills and 10 digs with
Kate Poppo also registering a double-double thanks to 11 kills and 15 digs.
Brooke Wagner, with 17 digs, led the defense.
Abbt Lichtenfels had 34 assists.
First-year
Cheyenne Price closed out the match with a pair of service aces.
MATCH TWO
Salisbury University (5-3) outlasted Shenandoah by sweeping the Hornets, 25-15, 25-17, 25-16 in the final match of the afternoon.
Poppo, with 12 kills, was the only woman in double digits in that category.
Lichtenfels dished out 22 assists.
UP NEXT
The Hornets open up ODAC play next Saturday, Sep. 18, with a tri-match at Eastern Mennonite. SU faces Gallaudet in addition to the host Royals.
