WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Shenandoah University men's soccer team rallied for a 4-3 victory over Marymount University in the squad's season opener Saturday at Catholic University.
Shenandoah (1-0) scored four second half goals to erase a two-goal first half deficit and earn the victory over Marymount (0-1).
IN BRIEF
Nathan Yared, who scored the Hornets second and third goals of the game, netted the game-winner at 79:21.
Trailing 2-0 after the Saints scored in the second and 32
nd minutes, SU began its comeback with a
Niclas Vavra goal at 46:59.
Just moments later, Yared scored the first of his two consecutive goals to bring the game back to level.
After tallying unassisted at 51:19, Yared put the Hornets on top with another unassisted goal at 54:33.
Marymount tied it at 77:32, setting Yared up to be the hero with his game-winner to finish off his hat trick.
BY THE NUMBERS
The Saints outshot SU, 15-8, while the Hornets had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Travis Jett had two saves in 74:44 of action while
Dylan Johnson made one save over the final 15:16.
