DANVILLE, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team completed its participation the Cougar Classic hosted by Averett University by splitting its two matches Saturday.

The Hornets (2-3) rebounded from a 3-0 loss to William Peace in the opening match of the day to sweep N.C. Wesleyan in the final contest.

WILLIAM PEACE MATCH
The Pacers (3-1) won at 17, 20, and 23 over SU to start the day.

Jillian Warter led Shenandoah with 17 kills with
Brooke Gast adding 10 and
Cheyenne Price eight.
Â
Abby Lichtenfels had 34 of the Hornets 41 assists.
Â
Defensively,
Brooke Wagner had 19 digs, Warter 15 and Lichtenfels nine.

NC WESLEYAN MATCH
Shenandoah salvaged the weekend by taking out the Bishops (3-2) with wins at 23, 22, and 15.

The Hornets had .243 for the match including a match-high .297 (15 kills against four errors in 37 attempts).

Warter had 19 kills and 11 digs, Lichtenfels 31 assists and seven digs and Gast 13 digs.
Â
Wagner finished her solid day with 12 digs and five service aces.

UP NEXT
The women are off until traveling to Susquehanna University for the "SU" Tournament Friday and Saturday. The Hornets take on Stockton and Salisbury universities in addition to the host River Hawks.
