Women's Soccer Wins Again

Tops St. Mary's of Maryland, 1-0

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Shenandoah University earned its second women's soccer victory of the week Sunday with a 1-0 non-league win at St. Mary's of Maryland.

First-year Chandler Gallant scored the lone goal of the game 45 seconds into the second half to push SU (2-1) past SMCM (1-1).

IN BRIEF
Gallant, who had the game-winner in Wednesday's 1-0 win versus N.C. Wesleyan, converted on a penalty kick Sunday for the game's lone goal.

The Fairfax Station native ripped her shot just under the crossbar and past diving Seahawks keeper Emma Tawney.

SU outshot the 'Hawks 20-7, taking 10 shots in each half, and also had a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Kasie Kilmer and Karissa Dominick posted a combined shutout with Dominick having to make the squad's lone save of the game.

QUOTABLE
"Fantastic weekend on the road," head coach Elizabeth Pike '11 said. "We learned a great deal and had solid keeper performances by both Kilmer and Dominick. Gallant had to step up to secure the PK."

UP NEXT
The women return home on Wednesday to take on Gettysburg in a 4 p.m. non-league match.
