Eagles Shoot Past Men's Hoops

Bridgewater Wins, 97-88

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Homestanding Bridgewater College rode a sizzling shooting performance Monday night to a 97-88 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah University.

Bridgewater (8-10, 4-6 ODAC) shot 62 percent from the field (32-of-52) in downing the Hornets (3-16, 2-8).

IN BRIEF
Shenandoah also shot the ball extremely well, making 34 of its 66 field goal attempts (52 percent), but could not keep up with the hot-shooting Eagles.

BC was 20-of-33 (61 percent) from the field in the first half to help fuel a 16-point, 50-34, lead heading into the locker room.

Trailing 77-64 with 7:53 to play, SU ran off a 6-0 run to make matters interesting with just a seven-point, 77-70, deficit by the 6:08 mark. Trammell Anthony, Anthony Cowan, and Davion Roberts had the Hornets buckets during this run.

Unfortunately for the visitors, Bridgewater answered with the game's next five points and were never seriously threatened again. The Eagles held at least a nine-point lead the rest of the way and expanded the lead back out to 12 points in the final minute.

Jaylen Williams, the ODAC's leading scorer, returned after a one-game absence to lead all scorers with 25 points. Roberts and Anthony backed him up with 18 and 16 points, respectively.

Bridgewater also had a 36-23 advantage on the boards that led to 12 second chance points.

Shenandoah completes this three-game road trip with a 7 p.m. ODAC game Wednesday at Virginia Wesleyan.
