ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon continued its stellar ODAC volleyball season Wednesday evening with a 3-1 victory over visiting Shenandoah.
R-MC (16-4, 9-2 ODAC) won at 21 and 14 in the opening two sets before Shenandoah (8-11, 4-6) cut the deficit in half with a 25-23 victory in the third.

The Yellow Jackets then clinched the match with a 25-7 triumph in the fourth.
The eight ties and six lead changes all came in the first and third sets with Macon leading wire-to-wire in the second and fourth.
In the third, Shenandoah jumped out to a 4-0 lead and extended that advantage to 8-1 before the 'Jackets used an 11-2 run in the middle of the set to turn a 13-5 SU advantage into a 16-14 contest.
The two teams were then tied at 17-17, 18-18, 19-19, 20-20, and 21-21 before the Hornets ran off three straight points to find themselves one point from clinching the set victory. After Macon made it interesting by scoring the next two points of the match,
Jillian Warter put down a Becka Nguyen set for the set-clinching point.
BY THE NUMBERS
Aaliyah Chunn led the Hornets with 10 kills with Warter adding nine and
Kate Poppo six. Chunn and
Brooke Gast had excellent nights at the net with six blocks each.
Brooke Wagner had 14 assists and Nguyen 13 to help run the offense.
Defensively,
Emma Thompson had 15 digs, Poppo nine and Wagner eight.

Shenandoah travels to the University of Scranton Saturday for a tri-match with the host Royals and Manhattanville.
