CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Host Wilson College jumped out to a big early lead on its way to a 74-53 non-conference men's basketball victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.
Wilson (3-3) scored the game's initial 10 points to take a lead it would not relinquish versus the Hornets (2-5).
IN BRIEF
Malik Jordan canned a 3-pointer at the 14:34 mark to end Shenandoah's scoreless string, but the Phoenix would quickly answer back to maintain its double-digit advantage.
Wilson, on the strength of a 20-6 run from the 10:29 to 5:27 marks, expanded its lead out to 23 points before SU began to climb back into the contest.
Shenandoah scored 18 of the final 19 points in the first half to cut its deficit to eight, 37-29, heading into the break.
Unfortunately for the visiting faithful, however, Wilson opened the second on a 9-0 run and was never seriously threatened again. The Phoenix held a double-digit lead the rest of the way with the lead never dipping below 12 points.
First-year
