Hornets Meet Top Seed Washington & Lee in Semi-final Round

SALEM, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team continues its quest for its second-ever ODAC Championship Friday with a 3 p.m. ODAC Tournament semi-final round game versus top-seeded Washington & Lee.
 
Shenandoah enters into the contest with a 20-5 overall record after defeating Randolph College in the quarterfinals, 63-57 on Friday afternoon. One of those five regular season losses was to Washington & Lee on December 1, a 59-48 decision in Winchester.
 

LAST MATCH-UP

  • Lauren Archter led all scorers with 19 points for Washington & Lee, shooting three-of-six from beyond the arc. 

  • Kat Gronninger added 11 points and three "3's" of her own for the Generals.
  • Shenandoah's defense held ODAC Player of the Year, Megan Horn to just three buckets in the first matchup. 
  • All-ODAC Second Team guard, Jordan Diehl, grabbed 13 boards. 
  • Olivia Weinel, First Team All-ODAC, led SU with 10 points
  • Ragan Johnson added eight. 
  • Shenandoah shot 22-of-62 for 35 percent, compared to the Hornets' per game average .437. 
  • Shenandoah led by as many as six points in the first quarter but had a cold spell in the second half.

SU downed the Generals on its run to the 2019 ODAC title.
